1. What do I have to submit to participate in Umid Fund?
You should submit following list of documents:
1. Application addressed to the Chairman of Umid Fund with the indication of study direction 2. Filled out personal card 3. Copy of the diploma about the successful
graduation of the local university, including information about last year of study and complete list of subjects taken during the period of studies 4. Recommendation letter of the
University rector or the CEO of the company, (authorized on session of the specially created commission). 5. Copy of a work-record card (for employed applicants); 6. Statement of
purpose of studying abroad on the chosen specialty and vital position of the applicant (no more than 2 printed pages). 7. 4 pieces of color photos, size 4 х 6 sm.
8. Passport and copy of the passport. 9. Military passport or certificate and their copies. 10. Folder and envelope
2. What are the requirements for participating in Umid Fund?
In order to be eligible to participate an applicant:
- Should be the Citizen of Uzbekistan
- Should be a senior student at any University of Uzbekistan
- Should show strong interest in his/her field of study
- Should be between ages of 22 and 35
- Should have a strong knowledge of English, history of Uzbekistan
3. In which countries can scholars study?
USA, Great Britain, Italy, Germany, France, Canada, Japan
4. Can scholars choose the university?
No, it depends on scholars’ test results
5. Can scholars select the country of study?
Yes.
6. Can a scholar choose a major different from his own field of study/major in Uzbekistan ?
No, this is not permitted anymore
7. I got my bachelor degree from a university abroad, can I participate ?
Yes, you can
8. Will I have a chance to choose a place of work when I get back ?
Yes, you will, but the result will depend on what the Special Committee decides
9. I am from Samarkand region, can I stay and work in Tashkent ?
If you are a permanent resident of Tashkent city (with a residency stamp in your passport), you might have a chance, but it again depends on Special Committee’s decision
10. What will happen with my military duties? Will I still have to go to army ?
We are unable to answer this question for now
12. Can I marry to a citizen of the USA, Germany or Great Britain ?
Definitely not, forget about it. Go for it if you want your butt kicked :)))
13. Can I stay after my graduation and work ?
No.
14. How much will be my stipend ?
Your stipend will be determined by our partner in your country and confirmed by Umid.
15. Can you tell a little about insurance ?
Please call Umid foundation office about this issue. The insurance policy is updated almost every year, which is why there are no set rules/policies for now.
16. Can I work while studying ?
Yes, but you have to get a special permission from Umid foundation first.
17. Can I invite my relatives to my graduation party ?
Ask someone at your office of international education
18. How long should I work after graduation ?
5 years minimum
19. Can I apply for my masters or Ph.D. while working in Uzbekistan ?
Yes, you can. The university/educational institution has to be in the city of your work.
20. I do not like my university/city/town . Can I change ?
No.
21. I do not like my workplace/community, I hate my director in Uzbekistan. Can i change the workplace ?
No. Go kill yourself :)
22. Can I change my major ?
No.
23. Can I work for private sector while working for government organization ?
No.
24. Can i work for private sector/Joint Venture/International Organization ?
No.
