The telecommunications network of Uzbekistan provides all types of modern telephone, telegraph, telex and fax services based on the latest achievements of
modern technology. Lately, Internet and E-mail are gaining popularity. A single national network for information exchange is being formed which will be integrated into the world network.
The National Information Transmission Network - UZPAK - operates a DRX digital station providing services of trunk and international calls. The network functions in all regional centers and provides a number of additional services such as auto recall, dressing call, rapid dialing and call searching, etc. UZPAK, when called upon, will install computerized local information networks for organizations and guarantees multilevel protection of information. Presently, a project to install high-speed optical fiber channels to connect regional centers is in progress. An optical fiber transmission ring will also be installed in Tashkent. A business plan has been prepared on establishing a united integrated telecommunications network where data transmission and multimedia will be transmitted using state-of-the-art technology.
