Navruz. Islam Karimov's speech

This is a great holiday in our vast and beautiful land. The symbol of spring and awakening, renewal and good deeds, love, respect and charity - that is Navruz. When there is life and mankind, a person will live striving for good deeds, liberty and a bright life, and wish that goodness and justice will reign in the world. On the Navruz holiday man clearly understands the immortality of life, the essence of life, and value of charitable and good undertakings.

With the advent of spring and beginning of the new harvest season the creators of abundance, our peasants, come out to the fields to sow with good aspirations and hopes. Of course, there are special reasons for the fact that for many centuries it has been the dearest and most popular holiday of our nation. With its peculiar meaning, the spirit of the Navruz holiday reflects the noble heart and real nature of the Uzbek nation.

Therefore the evil forces could not wipe out Navruz from the memory and spiritual life of our people. The spirit of Navruz is a bright illustration of the will of our people to live in peace and accord with the whole world, and deny violence to support the good deeds and preserve adherence to the values common to the whole of mankind. In today's free and independent life, representatives of more than 100 nations living in our country performed. The new meaning of Navruz is a bright illustration of the richness of their culture and creative art.

From the bottom of my heart I express thanks to all guests taking part in the Navruz celebrations, Ambassadors of foreign states, representatives of international organizations and correspondents of the foreign mass media on behalf of our people for their respect to our country, our ancient culture, customs and the traditions of our people. I wish to say to our respected fathers and mothers, sisters and young people on this bright day of Navruz: May you be healthy, have good prospects, long life, and may abundance be in your home. May your dreams and wishes come true on this joyous spring holiday. May there always be peace, love and happiness in every house. Many happy returns of the Navruz Holiday.
