What is the best airport you have been to or heard of? Why did you like it?
What is the worst airport? Why did you dislike it?
You can post pictures and tell us interesting/terrible stories...
My version:
Best: Schipol (Amsterdam), Incheon (Seoul)... Bot of them are kinda high-tech and exceptionally functional. Staff is friendly, available and ready to help...
Worst: Sheremetyevo (Moscow)... My God, I presume that in the job requirements for a position at this airport, including customs guys, there is a line saying sth like:
"You should be extremely grumpy, totally unfriendly and uncooperative, incredibly slow and have insatiable lust for money".
All infrastructure sucks and not up-to date, the airport is not passenger-friendly, there are more security checks than necessary... Not recommended!

i have been maybe in 4 european airoports - they are all good.
my fav. is Istanbul - never had any problems there. People were always extremely nice.... maybe because we did not have to have visa? i dunno.
never had any problems in US airports - people were always nice. besides those ladies who check in your bag at the curb.... :( those suck. being mean is in their job description. : )

Dubai International Airport is the best that I have been so far, especially the new Emirates dedicated Terminal 3. It's the airport that has all for customers, and it is the airport that is simply making money!
The worst was Tashkent International Airport. Airport management simply sucks. Low level of customer care, and making money. Airport is simply sitting on the shoulders of the government.
The biggest airport I have been so far is the Beijing International Airport. Its just massive! ... and empty! It was build for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. It has the longest air-train ride.

No doubt, Amsterdam Schiphol is nice airport, as Shambles mentioned!http://english.cri.cn/mmsource/images/2008/03/21/holland-casino-schiphol.gif first floor, Casino
There was a monument of two tired boxers (I couldn't upload that picture)
Worst: Aviasvit (Ukrainian Airlines) - harsh stewards, drunk pilots, old airbuses etc...
I've never been in Russian airports

Nice airports:
Amsterdam - the best I've seen so far.
Tahiti Fa'aa - small but cool. There is a small band of native musicians always playing music. Very welcoming place.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/11/Tahiti_Faaa_Airport_%28Tahiti%29.jpg
University Park, PA - very convenient, because it's so small.
Bad airports:
Chicago O'Hare, Phoenix, Philadelphia, New York JFK international, Sheremetyevo I and II, and of course Tashkent International.

there are some places which you may find interesting in Korea. As mentions above aquarium is really good. Many palaces, old city gates (northern gate was burned last year), towers. jongejong- artificial stream which was built by present president when he was city mayor. Hmm.. Busan is good city. It has beaches which are open only during july and august. strictly regulated by government. you may visit DMZ to watch north korea. :D many people find it cool being on the border and watch extremely strict soldiers there.

Since they have only limited period to enjoy on the beach these places are OVERcrowded. Too many people..

seems like all the commies in the world have the same taste in construction building.... :D :D i actually somewhere saw a picture taken from above and you can easily see horrible asphalt on northern side and perfect smooth road on the opposite

Heathrow 5, International Airport in Oslo
Worst: Frankfurt (too many searching points), All Moscow Airports (grupmy, unfriendly, stupid and uneducated), Kiev (Borispol) airport, Tashkent of course (#1 as worst), Airport in Kaunass (litva), Thorp (Norway)
OK arports in following countries: Abu Dhabi, Czech Rep, Riga, Slovakia,Croatia, Russia (Novosibirsk).

My interesting experience was Tripoli airport in Libya. The Tripoli international airport pretty much reminds our Tashkent international airport.
the same style closed country, old airport, with old equipments. the only difference is the people working in there. unlike from Tashkent airport staff, Tripoli airport had very friendly people. Security, Police, Immigration officers - all of them are smiling and welcoming all the people. No one looks at you as if you are a "beef" with fresh money, or a spy, or an enemy, etc.
The same, like in Tashkent airport, it takes very long time until they load the luggage to the belts. and there are only 3 belts. even if one of them is showing your flight number, you luggage starts to come out from completely different belt.
Singapore and Kuala-Lumpur airports are nice. Very friendly people, beatuful interiors.
Chinese airports are massive, but more bureaucracy. still that old communistic management. Beijing airport was the biggest airport that I have seen so far. But it is so empty after the Olympic Games.
Maltese airport has no air-bridges. very small and tiny airport, but lovely :)

I haven’t been at some of the airport which you are talking about. So let me put in order the airports which I’ve been ‘n seen:
1. New York Airport (don’t remember the name of it)-good orginized, too many people,
2. Dubai- all 3 terminals- cheap gold :)
3. G. Bush airport Houston-modern and calm,
4. KL airport-better transportation to the city center,
5. Amsterdam (do not remember which one was that),
6. Istanbul, beatiful decoration " I love duty free" :)
7. Domodedovo-"Uzbechka" restaurant at 2nd floor :)
8. Alma ati-sort of
9. Vienna (because I stayed for transit)
10. and lovely Tashkent. do not wish if 2 or 3 flights come closer for arrival
11. Azerbaijan,
12. KIA-Kabul international airport-compared to afghanistan :)
Actually I hate all airports, shops are so expensive.

Hi everybody!
To my opinion, Frankfurt am-Main is the largest best Airport in Europe. There you have city bus, tram, and intercity express train connections inside the airport. So the infrastructure is best designed and functioning. Especially, no passenger can get lost in this airport due to simple and comprehensive sign boards throughout the airport. Airport staff are friendly, too.
I liked also Incheon Airport for modern interior and free-to-use facilities offered in this Airport. Staff are friendly.
Domodedovo Airport is a nice place. Particularly, I like Uzbek Restaurant "Uzbechka" there and Russian one "Yolki Palki" :) Although, Russian airports are being updated, reconstructed or modernized, the service level of airport staff is remaining at the same level, very poor. Airport Krasnoyarsk is damn sucking place, especially in summer time. Serving people are rude. Maybe, this is a typical russian attitude. But the service at Uzbek airports is even worse.
Only thing I like in Tashkent Airport is considerably quick check-in process. That's all. All others suck. For example, customs guys nowadays are checking each person!!! in an isolated room. Can you believe that? And what do you think they are looking for? Of course, money!!! The reason is that you can't simply take out more than USD2000 cash with you while traveling abroad. If you wanna take out more, then please get an approval paper from Uzb Central Bank!!! One of the solution is keeping money in cards, i.e., Visa, Master card and others. What I hate in Tashkent Inter.Airport is that soon after arrival a passenger should pass OVERcrowded Pass Check Point where officers are working too slow and opening only 2 or 3 check points out of 6. Here you may spend from 1 hour to 2,5 hours staying in the line with other passengers from different flights of Moscow, Kiev, Istanbul... So arrival totally sucks at TAS.
Few words about Fergana Airport. This airport is very small with a bad infrastructure. But what astonishing is that attitude of some staff toward passengers with kids. As I am traveling with my family, we were always prioritized which is very nice.
But I hate departing from Fergana Airport, it is too much scrutinizing and exaggerative.

The biggest and best airport I have been to is Denver. My least favorite was Heathrow. Absolutley awful.
I had to hang out in the Baku airport for a long time once. Not very interesting and nothing to do there. That and everyone was smoking.
Bishkek airport is also not very interesting but they were always doing construction. Every time I have been there it was much much nicer than the time before. The first time I was there I don't think they had working bathrooms.
